Solar Timeline
March 11, 2019

When you make the decision to go solar, there are some key markers between making this choice and becoming a fully-fledged solar consumer. Below, we'll take a look at the key steps in your solar journey, and what you can expect if you decide to go solar with YSG.

Consultation

The first step in the journey is the one of the most important parts of the entire process. We want to establish a solid foundation for our relationship moving forward so it’s important to us that we’re completely transparent regarding your project’s timeline, system specifications, and financing. This early consultation stage will allow us to design the solar system you want and make sure that you clearly understand every aspect of the project moving forward.

Site Survey

Once we’ve had the consultation and you’ve decided that YSG Solar is the company for you, then we get things moving right away and set up a site survey. This assessment of the property is a quick, efficient way for us to learn more about the site. The information we take away from the site assessment is then used to design a solar system that fits your unique needs.

Designing & Planning

After the survey, one of our engineers will set about designing a solar system that fits your needs and your property. Once we receive the plans for the project, we’ll be in touch to make sure the design is exactly what you want. Then, once you’re satisfied, all we require is your approval to move ahead with the project.

Permitting

It’s important that we work with the government agency in your locality to secure the correct permits and approvals for the project. At YSG, we value transparency for all parties involved in a solar system installation and we want to make sure that all our systems are up to code. This gives everyone peace of mind moving forward and ensures that the solar system we install on your property runs smoothly and generates lots of power.

Installation

Once plans have been approved and permits secured then it’s time for the exciting part - installing the panels! Our team of installers have years and years of experience working with everything from residential to commercial solar systems so you can guarantee a skilled, caring installation team. Our team will ensure that the system is installed to the highest standard, with minimal interference in your day-to-day life.

Inspections

Following the installation of the solar system, depending on your municipality and other factors, there may be one or more inspections to determine that the system has been installed to the necessary standards and is up to code. This period of inspections after the installation is generally a quick, efficient process which allows us to obtain the necessary paperwork to close out the project and wrap things up neatly.

PTO

Following the submission of all the necessary paperwork, the final piece of the puzzle is PTO (Permission to Operate). Essentially, this document is a notification that your system has been approved and is ready to operate in conjunction with your utilities provider. PTO is a confirmation that the solar installation process has been carried out correctly, meeting all the required standards with regards to technology and production. Once you’ve received PTO, you’re a bona fide member of the solar community.

These are the standard checkpoints on your journey to a fully-functioning solar system and, although things may vary a little bit here and there depending on the individual case, this is a solid roadmap as you look ahead to the installation and completion of your solar project.
