In order to speed up the processing of CDG allocation requests, National Grid has unveiled a new standard CDG allocation template. As of September 1, 2020, all CDG allocation requests must use this new standardized template, and National Grid will not accept requests unless they use the template.

National Grid detailed the new CDG allocation template in a recent email to hosts and third-party billers involved in CDG. The template, which is delivered in excel format, combines the allocation requests form and subscriber/satellite accounts, streamlining the request process. National Grid states that the template should be used for:

  • Initial Allocation Requests

  • Subsequent Allocation Requests

  • Allocation of Banked Host Credits

National Grid advises that you must enter account numbers in the correct format or they will fail validation and, thus, allocation. National Grid notes that it will not correct account numbers that are entered in the wrong format.

You can download the new CDG allocation request template here. Once you have completed the form, you can submit subsequent allocation requests on the nCAP portal, via the ‘Contact Us’ tab on the right-hand side of the page. Additionally, the ‘Contact Us’ section of the portal can be used to submit any questions you may have about CDG allocation.

CDG Allocation Request Example

National Grid offers the following example of how to fill out the ‘Contact Us’ form and successfully attach the excel CDG allocation template. Following the guideline of the example provided below, you can submit your CDG allocation request via the nCAP portal using the new standardized template. National Grid also suggests that you register an account on the nCAP portal, as this will allow you to track your request and communicate with National Grid about your request.
