NYC, New York, YSG Solar
June 8, 2020

Though Phase One of the reopening process has commenced around the state of New York, residential solar construction and solar-plus-storage construction must still be authorized.

With regards to nonresidential solar construction, NYSERDA has issued guidelines on a statewide basis.

For contractors performing work for a NYSERDA contract/program, they are permitted to pursue the following activities across the state:

  • Nonresidential electric power generation and storage-related development, construction, operation, maintenance.

  • Electric vehicle (EV) charging station installation, operation, maintenance at commercial & government sites

  • Activity by a single worker who is the sole worker on a project site

NYSERDA has also stated that businesses are still expected to adhere to and comply with all relevant health & safety requirements as outlined by the State of New York. As the reopening phases continue, we can expect more updates from NYSERDA in relation to the solar industry.
